Great peaceful location. Beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Exactly as described. Would have liked longer, but we only had one night booked. Close to Hobbiton (20 mins drive). We plan to return for longer. Guest suite is wonderful. Tea, coffee, cereal. Juice and snacks left. Nice views and very relaxing, very clean and very comfortable.

Centrally located town of the North Island worth an overnight stop for lots of sightseeing spots nearby and good eateries. We recommend Hobbiton to anyone, even if you are not a fan of the movie series. It is a very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. Also do not miss the unique Blue Spring in Putaruru.
The township of Matamata has many drinking and eating options for all budgets and some really nice places are reasonably priced.

We visited specifically to visit Hobbiton, this was a perfect stay for this purpose. We had a great meal at The Redoubt, although if eating on a Wednesday evening it helps if you enjoy Country and Western music. Pretty much everything was in walking distance. The area is really well looked after

Great place to unwind and just chill.
Great place to unwind and just chill. Handy to Rotorua and Tauranga too. If you want somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities but with all the essentials, Matamara is the place to be.

We loved our stay at A Place In the Paddock.
We loved our stay at A Place In the Paddock. It was just what it says. A beautifully appointed 3 bedroom house with room for family and friends right in the middle of a working dairy farm. We all enjoyed our stay. We visited the nearby Okoroire Hot Springs in Tirau close by. The are beautiful natural thermal pools in the bush. A must do.
The Walnut Lodge B&B was amazing! The hosts were extremely nice and helpful! They baked fresh bread for us everyday for breakfast, and even offered archery lessons! The rooms were spacious, clean, and the beds were very comfortable. It’s location is great for visiting Hobbiton, going out to eat in Matamata, and venturing to Auckland or Rotorua. We booked both rooms offered at this location, which provided us with a private experience with our group of people! It was perfect for our stay.
Absolutely fabulous room for a short stay in the Waikato. Matamata is a great location to be based in to explore - we did Hobbiton and Tauranga from here.
The room was really well appointed and you can see great care has been taken by Linda to accommodate her guests.
There's no cooking facilities apart from the toaster, but you are well set up with crockery to bring back something from one of the restaurants in Matamata and eat on the porch with a lovely outlook.
One of the best motels we stayed in our trip to NZ north island - very clean and modern -Everything was perfect and Spotless clean -
Location perfect all restaurants and shops nearby .. quiet and peaceful area ..
Parking at the motel was also very convenient and easy --
Hobbiton just 20 mins away
Me and my family loved our stay in Matamata and in Broadway motel - I loved the small down of Matata - should've stayed more nights !
We really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful location of Jen and Dowie’s Airbnb. The story of how they built the house without nails is amazing and we appreciated the craftsmanship and how homey and comfortable the barn is. They are wonderful hosts and provide amazing food and conversation. We also really appreciated Jen making calls for us and recommending restaurants. We will hoped be able to go back to one of our favorite Airbnbs.
A great little motel located about 3kms from central Matamata. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and didn't laugh too much at my bad pronunciations. As we were staying two nights, we chose to stay in one of the two separate cabins.
Each cabin had a separate bedroom, kitchenette, and its own car port with clothes line
There are tables and chairs outside to sit in the evenings
Laundromat just up the road.
The rural views from every room were so beautiful and serene. It is so local to Matamata where we were visiting relatives and my sister has already booked a re-stay to come with her girl friends. I am also planning to visit again soon and bring my husband. The rooms were fresh, welcoming and very comfortable. On a cold day, to arrive to the heat pump already going made it instantly cozy and relaxing.
We loved our stay at Broadway in Matamata! We probably only needed the apartment behind the house as it was just the two, I craved a full house to fill all the rooms. It was a lovely cosey stay after a big day at Hobbiton. Great town with lots to see and places to eat. Easy to access and great communication with staff.
The room itself is really clean and finished to a high standard. The staff leave you alone which is important as this is an area at the back of their garden.
The owners left a really comprehensive guide to Matamata, which we used a lot and was very accurate for the places we tried!
The location worked very well for us. The hostess gave us some good recommendations for hikes nearby. This was a very good location for our visit to the Hobbiton Set nearby. The downtown is charming, and the hostess gave us great recommendations for places to dine out.
good accommodation, described exactly as it is, easy to find, good proximity to matamata cbd and hobbiton, has laundry facilities on site, good partnership with local businesses that gave us good deals with meals (Osteria restaurant was amazing), very accommodating host
Lovely and spacious stay with comfy beds, a nice shower, and room to stretch out. Great central location in Matamata. Arrival instructions were very clear and self check in was easy. Wonderful value, makes me wish we'd had time to stay there longer!
one of the best places I ever stayed in NZ! you get a nice clean cosy three bedroom house for the price of a hotel! so peacefull and privite, warm in winter , lovely views of paddocks and Kaimai ranges , would stay again for sure!
The room was clean and comfortable with all the facilities we needed. The bed was comfortable with good linen. The motel was very convenient for everything in Matamata but not at all noisy.
